Saturday 4th August
Working my normal hours today which was nice
YouTube song Shalamar (1980's pop-funk etc)
My hunt for suit carriers was ultimately successful
A potentially troublesome customer turned out not to be
Once he was refunded, I then sorted him out with a new suit
Busy day once again with flurries of custom on sales floor
Successful click and collect order for a pair of travel jeans
The customer could have been grumpy but was grateful
Caroline gave me some hints about customers' 'tricks' and scams
Finding a suitable birthday card for Clumsy Craig in Paperchase
Watching Gillette Soccer Saturday once I got back home
The new football season has got off to an entertaining start
Some of the football league games had last-minute drama
Playing with my nephew in my Mum's living room later on
He is developing well, moving quickly and taking interest in things
His speech has come on even in the space of just a week
He is starting to laugh, smile and be a bit mischievous
Going to Clumsy Craig's birthday with my bro and sis-in-law
There was a pretty good turnout of people during the night
The birthday boy got plenty of cards, presents and beer
We found a side room close to the bar which was much quieter
Chats about family, children, holidays, prowlers and police work
Winding up Clumsy Craig and a schoolmate when they appeared
My brother was rather tired but managed not to nod off
The three pints of Spitfire I drank during the night
The walk back home from the venue helped burn off the beer
Going to the after-party at their house afterwards
Drinking in the garden and eating some of the leftover food
I appreciate that it was very much warm enough to do this
Chats about carpentry, neighbours and Clumsy Craig's new shed
His new shed is coming on well: my good deed a while back worked
It was a very clear night and we were able to do star spotting
There were some very clear shooting stars and we made wishes
Going to bed quite late having enjoyed my night out
Sunday 5th August
All in all, a pretty enjoyable day around here
Waking up at 10am and not feeling too groggy
Interesting episodes of The Bill on YouTube
(A user has uploaded a whole load of classic ones)
YouTube songs from Rod Stewart (early 80's new wave)
Cycling all the way to Chiswell Green to get fitness up
Getting an ideal people-watching seat by the door
Very nice large latte coffee whilst I was in there
As usual, a fabulous parade of lovely ladies passed through
I appreciate the chubby-cute brunette girl over far side
Listing some further intentions for my American holiday
One of the baristas is starting to show up on the radar
Cycling home through the peaceful country lanes
Very sunny day so they were also very photogenic
The intrigue of southern UK now resembling Andalusia
Further really good episodes of the Bill on YouTube
I have eaten and drunk very healthily all day today
Evening stroll around the northern half of the country park
Charity Shield @ Wembley: the curtain raiser to Premiership
Happy Hannah's lovely post on Facebook about sunshine
(Tag someone who is sunshine in a human form)
This really put a smile on my face and made me happy
Updating my Spotify playlist with all sorts of great songs
My posts on Trip Advisor are getting helpful replies
finding again this Wonderful poem:
Monday 6th August
Long working day, and things went well
Slept reasonably well during the night
YouTube song from Fragile State (2010's electronica)
The journey into work was pleasant enough
Cleaned the whole of the BU first thing
Excursion to 3rd floor to find packed shirts
Did reasonably well in stocking up packed shirts
Sorted out the customer from Saturday again and he was fine
Very nice large tea cake during my mid morning break
The amusement of Ryan being stuck in fitting room all morning
The amusement of him then getting lumbered with repackaging
The amusement of him getting nabbed by Moany Chris from A&A
Did a suit fit which got me out of the fitting room for a while
Mother and big-built son who were nice people
After trial and error, I got them sorted with a nice suit
I was then able to upsell all sorts of other extras on top
(Shirts, belt, ties, shoes and a satchel - all money in the till)
They were very grateful for my help and I may have a CSAT in the bag
The final sale came to £220 which was the biggest of the day
It took about an hour to do and helped pass the time
Jacket potato, chicken curry and croquettes for lunch
The rest of the shift then passed pretty quickly
Chat with Josh about my previous jobs and work experience
Some inductions are being done today for new starters
Riding home the quieter routes and avoiding all rush hour traffic
After the heatwaves, the weather is due to cool down this week
We may even be getting some reasonable rain at the weekend
Watching interesting episodes of the Bill on YouTube when I got in
Late evening ruminations on holiday magic moments later on
Continuing with my scripting piece for my Californian holiday
A fairly long night walk around the local area after that
Later shift tomorrow, so I get to have a lie in for a while
i appreciate that i do not accept emotional abuse anymore. if you're mean, hateful, fake or with an incredible ego you don't exist for me. and i also appreciate these words by Buk:
Tuesday 7th August
I managed to sleep for a good 8 hours last night
All CCTV's are fully installed around the building
Youtube song from the Starland Vocal Band
The last day of the summer heatwave for a while
I appreciate the dryer in the mens' toilets at work
A combination of people dealt with an irate customer
Doing a suit fit for another customer who was grateful
We did this via an order and the ordering hub worked
My efforts created a further sale for £349 from same guy
Excursion to the basement to find a cage for shelves
Chat with Lisa about loans, debts and credit cards
This helped to pass the final hour of the shift
It also dissolved grumpy mood which Cheryl had created
A little bit of showery rain helped cool things down
Watching interesting episodes of The Bill on Youtube
Bought some things in Tesco and I am now stocked up
Night walk around the local area getting Fitbit steps
the never ending encouragement by Abraham Hicks
