Finding yourself’ is not really how it works. You are not a $20 bill left in last winter’s coat.
And you are not really lost at all.
Your true self, who you really are, is right there in you buried under cultural conditioning from our modern and complex society.
Your true self is most likely covered up by other people’s inaccurate opinions about what you could, and couldn’t do, as well.
You were your true self as a child and as you grew into an adult the world bombarded you with inaccurate conclusions about what you should do with your life and they became your subconscious beliefs about who you really are.
‘Finding Yourself’ is actually about ‘returning to yourself.’ It’s about recognizing, and getting rid of the societal clutter and chaos you have been bombarded with every day of your life.
It’s about ‘unlearning’ who you think you are now. It’s an excavation of the false beliefs instilled into your mind at a young age.
‘Finding Yourself’ is really all about remembering who you were before the ‘world’ got its hands on you.
It's about a 'conscious shift' in your perspective and outlook on lifel.
Beautiful post Coachdoug!
I think other than letting go of the cultural conditioning we must also start listening to ourselves more and stop doing anything that doesn’t feel right to our core.
