Desires from the ego are ones which are fed by fear, negativity or insecurity. So for instance, a desire to have a fast car so you can rag it round the streets and make people think that you are better than them. (I see boy racers driving recklessly in BMW’s and I think ‘nobheads’). A desire for lots of money so that you can be ostentatious and show off. A desire to have a particular job so you can have power and status over people.
Desires from the heart are fed by a different source; one in which you desire to feel good but don’t wish to laud it over others or put others down. World peace seems to be a common one. You can also have material desires which come from the heart, as long as they have some kind of greater good as their root. So for instance, you can desire to have a lovely house and the root is to feel good, be happy and add to the energetic whole of the Universe; instead of status seeking.
In opinion, I’m not too keen on the desire to change your physical appearance. Okay, losing weight is part of that and it does have a positive root because being overweight isn’t good for your health. But I’m not keen on people trying to look radically different or grow a foot taller; mainly because it’s actually quite hard. Better to change the thoughts you have about yourself and the way you look, to something more positive. Self-acceptance is Michael easier god do that truck and physically change (but probably still be the same person inside).
If you don’t like the way you look now (usually too short, good round, too scrawny, too old etc) deliberately change them to something more positive and start working on imprinting that. Then you will become your own kind of beautiful and good enough, and you will attract people and situations in alignment with that.
The ego is your enemy, not your friend. It is the ego that gives you wounds and hurts you. It is the ego that makes you violent, angry, jealous, competitive. It is the ego that is continuously comparing and feeling miserable ~ Osho
Abraham says if you can have any desire on this space reallity that means the universe is able to give it to you, and you just have to align yourself by focusing on what you want and feeling Happy ( i have read the book in my language not un english, so i hope i am making sense translating It to english). Abraham says as well It is possible to change your physical appearance, so if you have the Desire to do so, wheter It is ego or soul Desire you can attain it, so i would say go for It. I want to change a few things on my physical appearance as well.
What do you believe is more important here? Are there consequences – only if you believe it to be so. Is a desire to change physical appearance from the ego – possibly but also possibly not. It can also be a spiritual desire too. It really is what you do with the desire and how you use it. As with anything.
The Course in Miracles has a lot of great guidance on the Ego. For a while, I was under the same beliefs as has been provided here, that it’s a bad thing and not good but I’ve come to realise that this isn’t actually the best way to deal or soothe the ego. It is a part of us that we developed for a purpose and as soon as we recognise that purpose, its power dissolves.
Every desire is great!
Happiness is so amazing it doesn't matter if its yours or not
