I want to take a moment to thank you Dads out there. I work in a preschool where there are many single Moms and I can tell you that the effect of being from a single parent home can be devastating. On the flip side, having a dad in a child's life can make all the difference. Where I work, I often see little boys, especially, without role models. There is a sadness in their eyes. There is a hole in their life where their Dad ought to be.
So, thank you, Dads!
If you have the time, the love, the inclination, why not be a "big brother" to children in your area? There are many programs for men who want to be a mentor to children without a male role model in their lives. If you are a police officer, why not take a group of these youth under your wings? Help guide them with programs that support the youth in your neighborhood.
There is work to be done people. Happy Father's Day!
