Hello Friends,
I am new to this group, but really happy that one does exist! I was wondering if there is anyone out there that can recommend a book, website, technique etc on how to rid of negative thoughts....
Wow... I am excited about your site... and I really like the way you personally deal with the negative thoughts... it's almost like a game your having with your mind... the Ahaaaaaaaaaaa got you...
Switch the negative track/thought-loop to a loving memory/experience. From there, focus on the individuals in your life (either attached to that experience/memory or in general) that you love and enjoy being around and feel gratitude and love for them.
If there is a family member/intimate/friend that you are experiencing conflict with, switch the anger/hurt to memories of the happier, loving times with that individual,.. and feel gratitiude and love toward them (realize they are likely teaching you something about yourself)
Perhaps it's a technique of going back and then moving farther ahead to a ligher, more loving space within oneself...
Peace and Loving Blessings to you, Eva *** Be well...Michael
So many great ideas and methods out there... i have actually started doing many of what people on this thread have recommended...... Does the universe know that you could be faking the positive thought? Sometimes, when i have to force myself to think positive thoughts.. i feel like i am faking it.. or cheating...
E
Michael, this will help a lot... Because no matter what the negative, there had to have been a positive at one point, otherwise we wouldn't be feeling the way we are.....

At first, as you begin to manage your thoughts, things will seem kind of 'fake'...but only at first. To make one thing plain and simple, you should never try to cover true depression with simple positive thoughts. There are many forms of negativity and while the power of positive thinking and the secret law of attraction can surely help you, it is not a substitute if you happen to be truly depressed or hurting emotionally. I would recommend the use of both medical help and positive thoughts to help you (depending on the true depth of the rut.)
I will give more info on the my next message on this thread
The question you asked is very frequent and honestly, has been asked since mankind could first begin to think. How can we be happy?
Or in this case, how can we rid negative thoughts?
I feel like I could write a novel on this so I'm really going to try to condense this and make it simple.
First point: Our thoughts are neither positive nor negative. They just ARE. They simply exist and it is us who determine whether they are good or bad. Our consciousness is what determines everything. It is our perception, our reason, and our will.
It is your thoughts and feelings together which determines what you attract and what actions you take.
So in essence, you cant really get rid of negative thoughts, anymore than you can clear the stars out of the night sky. What matters is your FOCUS. What you hold in your conscious and unconscious awareness is what manifests in your life. So you can't really rid yourself of them, you simply fill your focus on what you DO want.
You see, this is a HUGE and fundamental change in normal thinking. We always tend to think things through backwards. When we see something we don't like, our first goal and question is "How can we get rid of it?" But this thinking and feeling place tends to create more.
Most people, when asked what they want in their lives, can list hundreds of things they don't want or what they do not want to happen. But as soon as you can change this and instead simply focus on what you DO want to happen, that's exactly when the change starts to occur.
It is a matter of flooding your mind with what you DO want. It means reopening that inner part of you that can dream and desire. Many people, as we get older, tend to live our life out of fear. We worry about what others would think and try not to stand out too much. We're afraid of the spotlight and of being wrong in front of others. We don't want others to laugh at our dreams and desires. We learn to blend in through fear of judgement.
So the answer is simple. How can you rid negative thoughts? You don't. You instead train your mind to focus on the good you desire. And when an individual can begin to focus on what they do want to have happen in their life--begin to see it, begin to feel it, begin to imagine it, begin to visualize it, begin to let that inner desire become ALIVE within them, the Universe bends itself around this focus and that person will begin to live a life worth living.
So here's what to do:
Dream. List and begin to think of what you DO want. Make sure its always in the positive. Do not think of your desires such as "I don't want to be bankrupt"... this will only bring more bad. Instead, think of where you WANT to be financially, think of how good it feels to have it...and then let your mind find ways to accomplish that.
Make lists of what you want. When not so good things come onto the screen of your mind, just change the channel by again focusing on what you want. Think of things that make you smile...think of past events that were really good. Think of the pet or the baby that made you genuinely feel good when you saw it. Just hold those images in your thought and focus on them and I know you will feel better.
It's not at all about positive thinking. It is becoming POSITIVE yourself. You can't just think positive to be successful. You must BE positive by using your thoughts, feelings, and actions...in other words, your attitude.
Let's take, for example, someone who wants to find a new job because they lost the old one due to bad financial times.
Instead of fussing and crying over the loss (which really isn't one) you simply give thanks for the past you have had, and move forward to search for the job you want. If you keep thinking, "I'll never get a better job"--poof, you've already defeated yourself. What you MUST do, is first decide what you want and what makes you happy. Then the whole matter then turns on you keeping those desires in your mind with the full faith that you CAN attain them. The more you allow doubt in by thinking of the terrible IFs, the more you step backward.
It is all about training yourself to think and feel good about the things you want. The mind is like a movie screen and you have complete control over what plays on it. If you constantly see nothing but images that make you feel bad, just think about things that make you feel good. Dream, desire, and want... let your mind wander like it did when you were a child and you could choose to do anything. Why else did a man named Jesus once say to become like a little child...for such are of the kingdom of heaven. Those are the true creators. The dreamers, the ones who affirmitively act on the things in their minds knowing they can do them.
Anyway, sorry this is long...I got carried away as usual.
David,
Thank you for taking the time to post this. You made a difference in someone's life today! I am dealing with some financial problems and a very controlling evil person and you have given me some tips to help me turn this situation around to benefit me.
Eva,
I experience the same issue. What I have found is to constantly surround yourself with everything that strengthens you and avoid at all costs everything that weakens you. Thus, throughout the day I am constantly playing motivational audiobooks or songs. I have stopped watching anything negative. I have found this to be tremendous in my development and now I am much more aware of my thoughts. If I ever do think of a negative thought, I immediately counter it with a positive thought to make up for it.
