Your dreams are like bamboo trees
There’s an old Chinese tale of a farmer.
He lived in a small rural community and had farmed traditional crops like corn and wheat of his life, just like his neighbours.
But this farmer wanted more than what his neighbors had, so he started researching alternative crops.
After studying a variety of options, he decided on bamboo.
The climate, soil conditions and equipment at his disposal could make growing and harvesting bamboo a profitable business. He was convinced he was making the wisest choice and began making the changes needed to become a bamboo farmer.
Upon telling his fellow farmers his idea, they mocked him, calling him foolish, all the time warning him of his impending peril.
However, our farmer remained unshaken, he had done extensive research and was confident that he was making the right decision.
His neighbors mocked him. They had all harvested their crops while he had nothing at all to show for his efforts.
He was undaunted and confident in his decision.
The second year nothing happened either, not a sign of a bamboo tree anywhere.
Again he was forced to endure a year of ridicule by his heartless neighbors.
And a third and a fourth….
Then suddenly, his crop grew a foot a day!
By the end of the fifth summer he had a virtual bamboo forest. He harvested his crop and sold it for a huge profit. His neighbors were astonished. It looked as if it happened overnight.
Or so it seemed. Did the plants lie dormant for four years only to grow exponentially in the fifth? Or, were they silently growing underground, developing a root system strong enough to support its potential for outward growth in the fifth year and beyond? The answer is, of course, obvious.
Had the trees not developed a strong unseen foundation it could not have sustained its life as it grew. Had the farmer not continued to nourish and love the farm with his implicit faith, they would have died without ever seeing the sun’s love.

beautiful story . . . he was inspired by a dream in which he was instructed to find the vagabond and ask for the stone, then to trade the stone for wisdom . . . he awoke in the morning, and since his was a small village he set out immediately to find this stranger . . . he searched all morning, and nothing . . . then shortly after noon, he saw him on the outskirts of the village, he ran all the way to the stranger, and asked him for the stone . . . the stranger looked at him as though he was insane . . . "of what stone do you speak?" "i don't know, i had a dream, and this is what i am to do", he replied . . . the traveler looked into his satchel and lo and behold he pulled forth a stone the size of an orange and handed it to our farmer . . . upon inspecting it, he realized it was a giant diamond and his eyes grew large and round . . . he could not believe his good fortune . . . he was the richest man in the entire valley, let alone his tiny village . . . he danced around the village all afternoon with his new treasure, singing all the while . . . then suddenly his face fell long and sad . . . he ran feverishly from the village looking for the vagabond, to find him a few miles from town . . . when he approached the man he was asked, "what is wrong, why do you look so sad?" he handed the diamond back to the traveler and said "i want what a man has that allows him to give this away" . . . to which the stranger replied "follow your heart, and never doubt where it leads you and you will have more than you ever dreamed" . . .

This analogy is also mentioned in the Paolo Coelho story 'The Aleph.' There is a certain latent period whereby the Universe is preparing the way for your dreams to manifest. Your job is to continue supplying the thoughts, feelings, visualisations, gratitude etc for that to happen. See my post 'LOA and Momentum' in which I explain that whatever energies you are giving out, you need to stick at them because they build up a kind of psychic momentum which then attracts synchronicities, openings and then finally the fullest manifestation of the dream.
The trouble with most people is that they will start working on their thoughts and feeling for a time, but they won't actually continue with them, so the effect is that the thoughts and feelings don't get enough time to build up the energy level required to attract the desire.
For most desires, you need to give them focus for 1000 times a day for 100 days. These are most 'everyday life' desires such as a car, house, job, romantic interest etc. Obviously, if the dream is something bigger such as winning Olympic gold, then it will take longer, but most desires can be achieved in this time. The trick is to start, and then maintain the focus and discipline to keep them going, and NOT COAST ON THE MOMENUM which has been built up.

Despite my above reply, I rather dislike this proverb, because it can be quite discouraging. It could lead to a lot of doubt and discouragement because it leads you to believe that things can take a long time coming. I have found that when my focus is clear on my desires, then things start happening pretty quickly. It's a case of WHEN YOU BUILD THEN THEY COME. Synchronicities relating to your desire, or your desire itself, manifest. It all depends on how clear your focus is, because the Universe is always responding to your thoughts. You are never left dangling.

It's such a powerful parable for trusting in the unfolding of things unseen.
And also for action in line with his belief and trust.
And how they work hand in hand. (Correlation not causation..)
But what I really want to know is.. did he end up with Pandas?
or was his ground quite rocky so that he ended up with the lesser knownROCK pandas!
(I believe there were heavy sightings of Rock Pandas in the 70's but since the 80's they have been dying out).
