Why did you get up this morning?

I'd like to be able to hear everyone's answer to that question - really! The reason it is so important is because one of the essential ingredients to a long and happy life is having a purpose to be alive.

This may seem obvious or irrelevant. It is easy to just be so caught up in surviving the day and all its demands that something like a purpose can feel like a luxury. Yet study after study shows when people have a purpose they live better, healthier and happier lives.

We all have the stock answer ready - go to work, make money so my family can eat or following a dream. But what is your soul purpose? What purpose gives you passion or hope or a fire? What purpose do you hold that inspires you to move mountains?

I have always envied the people who seemed to have a clear and obvious purpose that guided their lives. They just knew. I never thought I did. I seemed to be in a constant state of moving and searching unable to lock on to a concrete and worthy purpose in the world.

Often we define a valid purpose as something that is grand and powerful and obvious. I will be a superstar or successful businessperson or a builder of cities. What is often built into that kind of purpose is the idea we need the world to acknowledge our purpose and we need validation when we feel we have succeeded. The bigger the parade or prize the better.

But what if your purpose isn't exciting or obvious or even visible to anyone but you? Would it still hold value in your eyes? Would you still feel a passion to fulfill it? What if there was never a parade or a prize when you achieved your goal? Would you still feel joyful? Or would there be a let down after all that hard work and no one even knows?

I can't give you your answers but this idea did help me find mine. A little hindsight into my own life's journey has made it pretty clear what my driving purpose has been all along. As you look back over your own life, what do you see as the purpose that has been driving you?

Why did you get up this morning? I hope you will let me and everyone here know your answer. If you're not sure take some time to think about it and let us know tomorrow. It will be a new day and have a new purpose!

I woke up this morning to celebrate a new day and enjoy it to the fullest! I have a wonderful family and enjoy my job. I get up and welcome each new day with gratitude for all it holds! It is truly a NEW day!! Because I believe making the most of each day is important - I wake each morning with the intention to do just that. I enjoy taking my children to school on my way to work. I enjoy going into work knowing my job is important - I am able to help and serve others - that makes me feel of worth. I enjoy the time I can spend with my family after work - just having some fun!

Today is a new day for me to enjoy, I plan to!

I got up this morning exactly because I have a goal and wish to accomplish it as soon as possible. I'm not improving if I'm only lying in bed all day. I always wake up with the hope that this day will be "the day" that my most important goal will be accomplished. So of course I wake up hopefully, joyfull and excited, even though throughout the day I have my ups and downs. I know it's worth to get up every morning because even if it's not "that day" it's another step forward towards my goal.
Of course I have other "mini" motivations to get up everyday, but they are just minor daily wishes meant to keep me happy.

Everyone has his own goals in life, and they may seem big and obvious for some people and unimportant for others. So you can't classify purposes in "valide" and "invalide".
So, some people may wish for a public life like, like being a singer or actor or just famous, because they want recognition. But for others this may not mean so much. Some people may just wish to be happy, even if they are "unknown", as long as they are with family and friends. Some people value the simple things in life more. Some people may think that being a superstar is and famous all over the world is a superficial goal, so they wish to to something that has a deeper meaning, like changing something in this world.
Everyone's wishes are different, so to give you an answer to your question - yes, some people could still feel happy when accomplishing a personal goal that no one knows about, or that it's not broadcasted in the whole world, because it means something to them. they know how hard they worked for it, and as long as they are happy that's alll that matters.

You may not be aware of it, but each and everyone of us has a goal deep inside us. It could've been in front of your eyes the whole time and you didn't notice it. What you like to do, what activity makes you feel happy, no matter how insignificant it may seem, that's your goal.

I didn't know either, until I was about 10. :) I was little anyway, I just lived my life freelly, with no worries, enjoying the simple things in life. :)
But since about 10 I had my goal set very clear into my head... And since then I hope for it to come true. I'm 16 now, and I'm still waiting, but fortunately, now I stumbled upon this... the law of attraction... I'm sure that now that I have a clearer outlook on life my wish will accomplish faster.

I hope I was able to help you with this! :)

I woke up this morning and went down to the barn and bottle fed a beautiful baby cria (alpaca). I felt her warmth and heard her contented humm as she was drinking and while I was doing this another baby was tugging on my coat and rubbing up against me. As it was very cold morning I let the mommas and baby alpacas into the main part of the barn. The babies ran and jumped into the air with the excitement of a new day. As I left the barn I petted my three Great Pyrenees that were very happy to greet me. No this isn't a dream it really happened. That is why I get up in the morning to go down to take care of my dreams (alpacas).
