Several years ago when I was head of the Infant department in the Cayman Islands where I taught for over 16 years, there was the need in Haiti for money and clothing for a Private Christian School . I asked ask the students to collect coins in a bottle or box for a month. This they did willingly. They were also asked to donate clothing for the children there. This they also did joyfully. As the results of this, money and clothing were sent to the school in Haiti.
Little did I know that few years in the future I would again have the opportunity to help raise funds for Haiti.
On January 12th a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Devastating aftershocks followed. The current number of dead and missing is estimated to be between 100,000 and 500,000. The entire capital of Port-au-Prince appears damaged or destroyed.
