Why is it that some emotions disappear and some emotions seem to last forever?
I've had crushes on certain people, feelings of infatuation. Those disappeared over the course of time, though. They weren't permanent emotions.
I've also felt love for people, like family members. Those feelings don't disappear. They feel permanent, like they would last forever if I managed to stick around that long.
Why is it that certain feelings fade over time, while others don't?

My belief is that we feel/develop "crushes" when we like someone because the universe is helping us to grow at that point in our lives. Do you ever begin to become interested in a new trait or a different hobby as a result of a crush? (ie. you find out the guy you like at work really enjoys horses and suddenly you have a new admiration for horses yourself). My belief is that "love", be it fleeting or not, is there to also help us to grow as individuals, taking on new characteristics and joys in life. This is one reason they say, "love makes the world go round". When one really looks at what makes the world grow and progress it really is love! :--).
This is my personal outlook and I'm sure we will be enlightened by others as well. Enjoy all of them! :--) -

My guess would be because emotions that are not deep seated and bound by attachment are not lasting. Temporary, shallow emotions like infatuation and crushes are not founded on attachment.

focus. acclimation. one of the most simple semantics and the most tar babyish in nature. also has to do with the holding power of the law of attraction, that's the root cause of the continued focus and acclimation until you know this stuff or decide to feel good or better having learned to on your own or from someone else. even then, if you get to thinking too much you can gain traction and create quite a groove in any belief/emotional-set-point pattern. hence some emotions become your mood or tone, the way people describe you...and others are not how they would describe you. the personality traits are demonstrating the emotions that people hang out in. for example, the love and rush of the relationships that they maintain over time simply demonstrates the direction of their habitual focus.... works for better or worse, it's up to you to let it work FOR you, if you are to be a deliberate creator and feel good.
