The idea of hypnosis is actually an umbrella that is used to refer to many parts. We use hypnotic induction to give ourselves explicit suggestions, which allow us to be able to change a certain thing we want to change in our lives. There are some fundamental steps towards achieving a change in our lives, and they must flow in order; they are
1. An understanding of what the conscious and subconscious mind is, which includes understanding how they are similar, how they are different, why it's important to understand each one. This is the foundation for all the work which will be done in the process of self hypnosis.
2. Autoquestioning, which is a method that can be used to get information directly from the subconscious mind, bypassing the conscious reasoning part of the mind. This is a very important step, for with it we clarify what the source or real issue of a dysfunction is, which may be something that seems absolutely absurd to us consciously, and thus we'd never be able to guess without this crucial step.
3. Suggestion formulation is then used to formulate suggestions which will counter the real issue which was discovered using autoquestioning previously. Suggestion formulation is crucial, and there are two main parts it is composed of: verbal formulation and image formulation. The ultimate goal is to create an image suggestion, however this is created from a verbal suggestion.
4. Suggestion application is then employed, which will require an understanding of hypnotic induction, scene visualization, deepening into a hypnotic state, and other key principles.
Contrary to what you might believe, no single step in this pyramid of concepts is known as "self hypnosis", rather, when all these are performed together, then you can benefit from self hypnosis, which will allow you to take back control of your brain and therefore your life.
