I have had anxiety for most of my life. About, 11 years.
I always looked past positive affirmations before because I was always alittle skeptical.
I think it helps in alot of situations but I think in others I need something else to settle me down.
So my question is, does anyone else suffer with anxiety or stress and how do you deal with it?

I also suffer from anxiety and have for many years. It was at its all time high this past year due to my Thyroid disorder. I take medication to help relieve it. However I'm looking deeper and using LOA to rid me of the anxiety. I'm also reading a book right now by Wayne Dyer called your sacred self, it is helping me get in touch with my spiritual being. I love this book and how it has been making me feel. I hope we can keep this thread going I think we need all the positive affirmations we can get!

I suffered from anxiety for many years too and was on medication but I got rid of it by positive affirmations. Now I have added EFT to my techniques. It really helps to tap the thoughts away.
Also I send healing energy through my pendulum and pranic healing so if anyone is uncomfortable and needs a healing, write to me and I will send you healing energy.

I am also a fengshui practitioner. If the east of your home is congested or has negative energy, your health can suffer. Keep a plant in the east and water it to bring you healing energy.

I want to add to the earlier post. I have been on a journey to explore ways to enrich my life and empower others. I am now studying to be a certified handwriting analyst. Your handwriting reveals the secrets of your subconcious mind or thinking. Write a few lines and check the slant of your handwriting. All of you must have a slant to the right.
Now write a list of positive affirmations without the slant so you write vertically. This will be difficult initially but you will get used to it soon. Every time you feel anxious or you panic write some lines of affirmation but keep the writing vertical.

Let me know how it goes.

I can relate to anxiety. It would be nice to be able to sleep at night a full 8 hours like a normal person.

I have suffered from bouts of anxiety in the distant past. I think anyone who cares a great deal about certain aspects of their life is vulnerable to anxiety. If we allow stress and desire overwhelm us, anxiety is bound to show its face in our lives.

After studying and reading a great deal about how the human mind works, I believe the messages given by The Secret and by Abraham-Hicks is spot on. These ideas that they share can also be found in religious texts and are a good portion of the philosophy of Bhuddism.

While it is obviously a part of life to care about the outcome of things around us, our thoughts and our feelings are the key to control. The more we take cling on to the world around us and let worry set in, we create a self fulfilling cycle of doom. We let one thought snowball into more negative thoughts which eventually affect our actions through fear. We literally attract disaster to us by letting out fears and worries dominate our thinking. It is one thing to be cautious and wise...and it is quite another to live your life in anxiety and fear.

The way to break the cycle will always involve taking control of your thoughts and become mindful of what messages are being played in your head. Use your will power to focus on what you DO want instead of worry about what you do not want. The more you focus on the bad possible outcomes, the more you call them to you, and in reverse, the more you focus and dominate your mind with thoughts of the good that can come, you live so much better.

The key is your thoughts and feelings. Learn to LET GO of the pain and worries in your life. Try your best to realize the truth: Everything is as it should be. This Universe operates by law and it delivers exactly what we originate. Your thoughts cause your feelings--your feelings cause your actions and call your desires--and your actions produce an equal and opposite reaction that alters current conditions. All of this happens by law and through you.

So what did I personally do? I learned to relax and to ALLOW the world around to be what it is. I recognized that its not my job to change the world. It was my job to be the happy best I could be. That by focusing on my own joy, I caused the change I originally clung to. I became more aware of my thoughts and everytime I felt myself feeling nervous or overly anxious, I simply began to think of things that relaxed me. I believe mantras can help but all you really need to focus on is what makes you happy and to want it enough to keep it in your thoughts.

There are times, however, when a person has a natural disposition to anxiety and sometimes extreme nervousness. There are even cases where after a terrible inccident someone will have post-tramatic stress. These cases should be consulted with by a Medical Doctor. All form of medicine has its place and in combination with medical treatment and focusing your mind on the good you desire, you will achieve your goal. Healing begins inside---literally and symbolically.

I have depression and a mild form of anxiety / stress. I'm on 40 mg/day of Prozac and it used to be on the days that I forget to take it, the WORLD knew it because I went off the deep end. Now, I try to allow the world to just go on, relax, know that I can't control other's actions, I can only control my own. When I lose control of that, then it's time for the Prozac.
I still take it pretty much daily, but on the days I forget, I don't want to go insane. I'm just a little less calm than usual. :)

When I am feeling anxious I take Suntheanine (L-theanine)(it's in green tea) but you have to make sure you take the real supplement and not the derivative from green tea. Go to a good health food store. It seems to work.

Also I listen daily to a meditation CD from the Centerpointe Research Institute, Bob Proctor, using Holosync technology (Awakening Prologue). It has helped with my anxiety and depression substantially. It's a little pricey and you get hounded constantly to buy other things but I have only used this CD and not purchased anything else.

Yoga will help also.

Good Luck

Marina,

I use to have terrible terrible panic attacks last year. I think from 2005 to part of 2008 my life was experiencing the highs and lows of a faulty roller coaster ride.

I do think LOA played a lot into it as the more negatively I thought the more I brought into my life. However, I also want to add in my experience it was also the company that I kept at the time that helped fuel the stress, anxiety, and panic attacks that I would suffer regularly. I didn't see it at the time, but looking back those people were hurting me more than helping me. This even includes the ex to some extent.

I'm now in a different city and the whole time I've been here I've experienced one minor panic attack. I'm not around negative people and my life goal is to focus on me and do what is right for me. I know everyone's anxiety and stress are triggered by different things, but I can tell you from experience that if it is the people that surround you, sometimes the best thing you can do is distance yourself from them.
