I wanted to share with you a short excerpt from a book I highly recommend. The title of the book is, "Finding Your Way Home: A Soul Survival Kit", by Melody Beattie.
Here it goes...
"People and the universe will respond more deeply to our beliefs than what we’re saying in our heads and rational minds. Sometimes, we find little hovels to stay in while we’re walking the path home. We might not really want to live there, but after a while we convince ourselves it’s at least safe. We begin to nestle in and call that place home.
We can get tired, even weary of change and having to move forward on the path home. After a while it can feel like everything - the painful and the good - just comes to pass. Don’t stop until you’re all the way there. Don’t settle for second-best of less than what your heart tells you it wants. Go the distance. Start all over again if you must. Pick up your feet, and walk that extra mile.
Living in your head or in pain might have been all right in the past, but it doesn’t have to be where you live anymore. Keep feeling and praying and going with what you know; go with the flow of your life. Work at your belief systems; create the best life you can each day. Stay present for each moment. Pay attention to details. Collect your clues.
You’re not on a treadmill. This worn path leads somewhere. Don’t stop until you open your heart all the way. Let your life and your journey and your path take you all the way to the doorstep. Ask for help. Humbly surrender. Then step through that gateway. It’s time to go home to your heart.
Be careful with the words you use. They’re powerful, powerful tools. Don’t say I’m shutting off or closing down. Say, I’m opening up."
I found that excerpt very powerful and moving and I wanted to share it with all of you!
