Hi everybody!

I just cut down my groups to three, telling everyone "less is more" -- and then I stumbled onto this place, and I just HAVE to jump in, because I'm eyeball-deep in two novels and a few other not-so-ambitious projects. It's enlivening for me to discover where a few of my "kindred souls" hang out!

Looks like I know some of you, others I don't, so I'm looking forward to getting into the thick of things with you all next time I'm home. (I'm a trucker, so the road keeps me away from my desk. I don't have a laptop -- if I did, I'd spend all my down-time playing around with it instead of getting my sleep, lol)

I'll be back . . .

Will writing this make me rich and famous? Will it get me interviewed on Oprah and The Today Show. Probably, it won't.

I want to be rich. I want to be famous. I want to be adored and regarded as brilliant. These are the fantasies that many of us have, when we sit down to write. They are fantasies that I have. And in my daydreams, I think about many ideas that I fantasize will gain me reknown, if committed to pen and ink.

The problem is that these very thoughts can stop me stone cold, when I sit down to write. Looking at a blank page or computer screen confronts me with the realization that whatever words I use to fill the blank spaces are probably not going to get me acclaim or riches. What I write might not even be any good.

So why bother? Two things: You have to sit aside, for at least the moment, that you want to be rich and famous or incredibly clever, and you have to have reasons for writing that have nothing to do with getting your name on the New York Times bestseller list.

You have to see your writing as something more than a potentially winning lottery ticket. Write because you want to write and for no other reason. And don't worry about whether it's any good. As Heather Sellers advises in Page After Page, "Dare to suck."

You have to have your reasons for writing, not someone else's reasons. Write a little or a lot. Practice writing every day. It will become more and more ingrained in you life.

And if you don't want to write, then don't. Own up to the fact that it is your decision not to write, but don't beat yourself up for it.

Being a writer doesn't make you a better person. It just makes you a writer. That's all.

Best wishes,

Carl Norman

Trina L.C. Sonnenberg, Internet marketer, author and publisher has just released a new book. This book is not in her typical genre of marketing and home business information, but it is a step in the opposite direction. 'My Journey' is a compilation of verse, written over the last 27 years, accompanied by breathtaking photos of southwestern Colorado.

A domestic abuse survivor, Trina used writing as a coping mechanism during her years of abuse. This book is the result of that personal struggle and has been published as a way of offering solidarity and hope to others who are in a similar situation.

Past books authored by Trina Sonnenberg (Schiller) are available in ebook format. They include:
Your Beginner's Guide to Syndication
RSS, Blogs and Syndication The Facts vs The Guruese
The DeskView User's Guide

Trina has been writing and publishing online since 2001, with the first issue of the Trii-Zine Ezine (ISSN# 1555-2276) in September of that year. In 2004 she launched the Internet's first syndicated advertising company, AdsOnQ, to expand on her use of RSS technology.

Perfectionism is a major cause of writers block. If, before I write, I fantasize about the grand idea that's going to come out on the page in magnificent fashion, I freeze before the blank page. On the other hand, if I allow myself to write whatever comes out, then I write freely. The key is to allow myself to be as good as I am and as bad as I am in any given moment. If I do this, I don't feel restricted by some grandiose vision of what I think a writer should be. I am free to be myself and become far more prolific. And I have a much better time.
Writing becomes my friend rather than my master.
