Is there value in "fighting for a cause" or are we here just to seek happiness for ourselves ?

I am so grateful for all who helped me on my post "why are mothers not paid a salary", it could have been any cause like The Anti apparthid movement, the Womens lib movement, the Combat Poverty , or Aids in Africa issue, It could have been The Global Warming issue, or The Human Rights movement

I began to see two very important things

1) we are not here to solve other peoples problems,we are here to live our own life.

2) if we aspouse a cause, it must not be to help others (as they might not want or need the kind of help we are offering) it must be purely because we want to do this for our own enhancement, for our own pleasure.

I have written these ideas down to help them sink in ..I have not fully integrated them yet as it is contrary to what I believed befor I encountered Abraham and the LOA ..but I sense them to be true, ...I just have some resistance.

Thank you all - Gen

I have come to believe in the preponderance of well being in the world, all is well indeed! It has been a similar process as yours and continues. I can see how pushing against something makes it bigger in the world and otherwise doesn't help anything. Like Mother Theresa said: If there is a Pro Peace rally, invite me. Not anti-war rallies.I think there is a new and different way of being an activist and helping people, and changing the world. It seems like helping stems from wanting to, seeing what one can do and feeling inside that it is the right thing. Thank you for sharing, Gen, as I think about these things too.

There's a real freedom that comes with this understanding, when it finally sinks in...

I think that the only point of life on this planet is to find happiness... That is the most basic thing we humans should strive for, but the ultimate goal (or telos as Aristotle would call it) is universal/ collective happiness...

Look at Jesus, Mother Teresa, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela... They all put the happiness of others in front of their own happiness (or so we think)... I think they new the meaning of true happiness.
