THANK YOU UNIVERSE!!! THANK YOU GUIDES!!!!!!! THANK YOU TO INSTINCT!!!!!!!!!!!!
This morning I was getting the kids ready for their first day of school. The kids couldn't remember what room numbers they were supposed to report to, so I was on the school website when I stumbled on the link for the school calendar. My husband had thrown away the calendar before the summer began, and I figured we would always get a new one, that it was no big deal.
So, I was working under the impression that today was a shortened school schedule. I don't know why. I think because when we were younger the first few days of school were shortened. A sort of easing us back into the swing of things. I guess times have evolved, probably due to the decrease of parents who staty at home, but as I looked at the calendar, there was nothing that said there was a shortened scheduled. So, I called the school and the secretary informed me that it was indeed a full day. So, no lunches were made..what a way to start the day!!! So I really fast throw some stuff into the lunch boxes, thank goodness I knew where they were! Grabbed money for milk for the two of them and whew! I was done.
Now of course, the bus passes came in weeks ago, but I never looked at them. I was just going by the times from last year. So, I drag the kids outside to take the embarrassing first day of school pictures. I told them I will do this every year until they are done with college, so get used to it. So, here I am, cell phone, coffee cup, camera, bus passess in my hand, trying to take this picture and I hear a noise. I thought to myself, "That sounds like the bus". Low and behold, around the bend comes the school bus, 16 minutes earlier than last year! Now I have the cell phone, coffee cup, camera, bus passes, and two full backpacks, running across the front lawn (The bus stop is across the street from our house). Apparently, I was not the only one who was running on last year's schedule. The people who live across the street came running at a full tilt as well.
When I got up this morning, I wasn't really happy with the way my shirt looked with my pants. When I looked down as I walked into the house, there was coffee all over the front of my shirt from my sprint across the front lawn. Time to put on the shirt I really wanted to wear!
Now my husband has been making fun of me for taking these "first day of school pictures". I am so glad I do. Had I not, I would have never heard the bus coming around the bend and we would have missed it! What a wonderful begining to a wonderful day.
