How is Going Raw Vegan, Going Green ?

#1 “There is almost 7 billion people in the world. Many eat cooked meals several times every day. chop wood or burn oil, Then there’s fast food dinners burning electricity etc etc. think about the amount of greenhouse gases produced each day to cook all that food. At 2 or 3 meals a day that’s something like 15 billion meals every day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year.” by Alexander

#2 “Another reason that people follow a vegan diet has to do with environmental concerns. Take this fact, for example: The world’s cattle alone consume a quantity of food equal to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion people–more than the entire human population on Earth. If we stop feeding all our land’s output to farmed animals, there will be more food for humans to eat.”

I was 1/3 raw for about 2 years and now (a few months ago I am now) 2/3 raw only eating a piece of vegan protein & rice or pasta, or potatoe in small portions for only my dinner meal and I must say I feel better then ever and would never go back to eating more cooked food. It's made a world of difference in how I feel, Namaste, Arlene

Hi there
I went RAW for a few months just after my mother died in Jan of 08, I was greiving but physically never felt better but old habits die hard. I've been trying to get back to RAW and now that you've reminded me I want to do it again but for longer than just a couple pof months. Thank you for the boost. Be blessed.

Yes, what you say is true- to whatever extent we get get more of our calories from raw, vegan sources, the less negative impact we have on the earth'e ecosystem. The percentage of raw vegan foods that one can stay healthy on varies between individuals, depending on a number of factors.
I manage to stay vegetarian, but my metabolism can't handle totally vegan at this point- Even still, I have a difficult time staying above 135 pounds (supposedly this will get easier, but no sign of it yet!)....
But if everyone were even totally vegan, we'd still need to address the population issue. If the growth rate is above zero, the growth is still exponential. And if we continue to replace other species at some point we'll upset the ecological balance to such an extent that some kind of "phase change" will have to occur, and it almost certainly won't be too pretty.

We can use our minds, paying attention to the law of cause and effect, so that we can remain in a realm of abundance, or we can use instincts which no longer apply, letting "evolution take its course", leading to our premature extinction.
I for one am dedicated to helping us take the first path describe above!

that veggie photo looks good. it made me hungry looking at it. if we dont feed the poor cows, then what do they eat? starve them? they need to get their veggies too so they can give us good milk and cheese. and we dont need to eat them for their meat. just enjoy their dairy.
