Today my focus was on the point of my body at which the breath enters and exits. I found the place I got the greatest sensation just before the tip of my nose. So my attempt was to focus on that. My breath is so very very subtle when I'm sitting like this. It's incredible to observe this gentle but essential energy.
My itching is getting more and more under control. But my mind wandered like crazy again today, imagining conversations and such that have yet to even take place. Typically what meditation instructors tell you to do is to notice when your mind is wandering and bring your attention back to where you want it, which is on the breath. It might even be helpful to "talk" to your consciousness, and say, "Oh, hey, you wandered off. Come back please; there's good stuff here for you to discover if you just persist." (Note: This last part was not something any meditation teacher told me; I made it up. I figure we should use whatever works. :-))
Ah, well. As long as I'm aware my mind is wandering, that's better than not being aware. To be continued.
