Now I have never been a sun-worshipper.
My idea of fun has never been to lay out in the sun!
Especially if it's not at a pool!!!
In my yard I was always really bothered by bugs!
Anyway--I am fair-skinned. And I burn easily. I have gotten my fair share of sunburns. Especially once my family and I started vacationing in Florida. (I lived in Ohio for almost 30 years before moving to Florida)
There was one in particular that sent my parents out to the drug store to find something to help ease the pain. What they found was Aloe Vera--which by the way works great!!
I think that it was shortly after this incident that I stared to feel like I was allergic to the sun! I would sometimes get a rash. And even if I didn't--I would feel a prickly feeling that would certainly feel like one!!
However--within a few years this went away.
But the one particular sunburn that I got where my parents discovered Aloe Vera affected me very much. I was very careful after that. The second I felt sunshine I would start looking for shade. And I used sunscreen when I would be out in the sun for any length of time. And even with it--looked for shade pretty quickly.
And--no--I never did get another really bad sunburn again!
But I never got any real sunshine either. (Even living in Florida for almost 15 years!!!)
Although I didn't know it at the time--this was damaging to my health.
Then came Christmas 2009. I saw my youngest sister for the first time in over 5 years!
She not only looked great--she looked happier and more relaxed than I had seen in a very long time!!
She talked a lot about Vitamin D. So did her husband. It's made quite a difference in her life. It didn't take beyond that first day to convince me!!! I made sure to take the Vitamin D that I had that very day!! And after Christmas I bought one with a much higher number of units.
Not only that--I started spending a little time in the sun!!! My first time I only went for 5 minutes. But my sister and I went out for probably a half hour one day while she was here! I like to go for 10 minutes. I loved it. IT FELT GREAT!!
Then--right after my sister went back home--a really cold spell hit Central Florida. Even if the sun was shining--it was much too cold to have it hit my arms--let alone my legs!! Plus I was freezing inside the house--let alone outside!!
Boy did I miss the sunshine!!
Mmmm--that's certainly not something that I've said very often!!!
I've been thrilled recently to be able to go outside in the sunshine with no coat on!
What a change that is!!!
Anyway--I just wanted to let everybody know that. :)
