Powerful Intentions: Law of Attraction Community

Hi all,

I figured this would be an appropriate place to ask this question. I hope someone has some insight!

My husband has been approached 3 times in the past 3 weeks by random people on the street asking him for a ride (to the bus stop, to their house, and to a homeless shelter). The first time I was with him and it was as we were leaving a market downtown, the other two times have been as he was leaving work. This has never happened to us before, and now it's pretty apparent that he is attracting these people who need/want rides. Any thought or insight as to what in the world this could be about? We've come to the conclusion that the underlying theme is that he's conflicted about trusting people's stories (he never gave any of them rides but felt twinges of guilt for "not helping"). But the fact that all of them are about "a ride in his car" is really perplexing. He didn't really think much about either of the first two instances but now that the lady asked him for a ride home today and seemed very distraught when he didn't comply, it's seeming to be a pattern! And obviously we understand that if we focus on it people will continue asking.

I just feel as though this has "bopped him on his head" 3 times - isn't that some message from the Universe???

Blessings,
Valentine214

Interesting thing, I had a beggar come up to me today and asked for just a dollar, which I did give. I usually give because I figure it's just going to come back to me somehow and it usually does countless times. It turns out I got that "economic stimulus payment" later on today.

Another time I was late for class and I had a paper to turn in, and as I walked down the block my friend suddenly drove up and asked if I wanted a ride. I then had enough time to go to the computer lab, print out my paper and head to class. I was a few minutes early.
In another class, it was as if I never missed a day of notes. Regardless of how late I came to class, the first thing I would always hear from my professor would be, "So, the first thing we'll be talking about today is.." One time, the bus was about 30 minutes late and 1/3 of the class had passed too..
Another time, I raised an F (due to the professor's poor teaching, over half the class failed the midterm) to a B- due to electrical malfunctions; they weren't able to turn on the lights in the building so the final was made into a take home exam.
It happens a lot with me, so I can bore you with more stories but you get the picture.

There are countless times where the universe has provided help to me in not so subtle ways, so I don't usually complain about giving regardless of who needs the help (good or bad), they're still part of the universe and I see it as a practice of unconditional unjudged giving to the universe. Then there are those times where I just can't give so I don't, I try to give if and when I can like the universe, there needs to be some sort of balance of giving and taking. I don't usually feel as guilty if I can't give because I really can't and when the universe gives I take, I don't question as much either.

The thing that pops into my head is to ask...

What's he driving???

If it's one of these babies...I'll definitely be the 4th person to ask for a ride!!! ;>)

Have FUN with it all!

Hahaha! While it is a black 2 door car, it's no Lamborghini. It's a 2007 Honda Accord with black leather seats tho - a good manifestation story :)

Ohhhh, me too Bob!

I only give to people when it makes me feel good to do so. If that sounds selfish....well...it is! And it's supposed to because it only makes sense to give, for both the giver and the receiver, when your vibration is in the right place. Think about it, has someone ever done something for you or given you something when you knew and felt that it was with reluctance? It doesn't feel very good to either one of you, so why bother??

It doesn't matter who is asking, a charity, a homeless person, a drug addict, or an alcoholic, if it makes my heart sing to give something, then I do. The one thing you have to remember though is if you give a gift..GIVE IT. It should be done without expectation of something in return, because if you give it expecting the receiver to do something specific with it that meets your approval, it's not really a "gift", it's a ploy to help YOU feel better! So if I give a drunk a dollar and I know he's going to buy booze with it.....WHO CARES? It's none of my business anyway?? It's his life, his vibration, his path...let him live it!

Many blessings,
Beth

This reply might seem completely crazy but here's what I believe. When you are prepared for the unexpected - it quits happening. For example, I used to babysit a really accident prone kid. We'd always have to leave the playground to patch up his cuts and scrapes. So I made it a point to pack a well stocked first aid kit and have it with us all the time. Guess what?!? He stopped getting hurt! How crazy is that. Here is my suggestion. You are attracting people like this because you are a good person and felt guily for not helping the first one. Keep a few local bus schedules with you as well as $20 in ones. The next time someone approaches you tell them that you would love to give them a ride but it goes against your family policy/agreement. Everyone knows how screwed up this world is - trust me they'll understand your reason! Give them a bus schedule and four dollars. I promise, when you feel that you are doing something to help these people and you have good feelings about yourself for assisting them - they will stop approaching you! I felt so bad the first time that kid busted up his knees and elbows because I couldn't help him right away. As soon as I got prepared and ready for it, it stopped happening. Trust me. This will work for you! Best of luck!

I have found myself placed in the same situation many times by people who 'fly signs' or bum on sidewalks and strip malls. I think people in need seem to be 'attracted' to those who's light shines a little brighter than others. I am not necessarily talking about those who outwardly appear wealthy, but rather those who send out loving and compassionate vibes as many on these forums do. I think that when we begin working with LOA and our own powerful intentions, we begin to 'vibrate', so to speak, with positive energy and those in need, and unfortunately, those who can pull a con, are drawn to this. I think all we can do is consider our own safety first, then make a decision as to how to respond. When I have to refuse a request for money or whatever, I always look the person in the eye and say, simply "I'm sorry. No" with as much compassion as I can muster. I think the eye to eye contact gives each person in their situation what they need, whether their request was sincere or dishonest. They receive what they are sending by their own choice.

I am a giver and I am grateful to live an abundant life. I used to give to the needy on the street. Until one night on my way into a deli a man said he needed $ because he was starving. Instead of buying one sandwich for myself, I bought two and gave him one. I saw him throw the wrapped sandwich into the trash can. Apparently, he wasn't starving. He needed $ for something else. That incident was my turning point. I hate the thought of people starving so now I give directly to the food pantry or mission. They are then able to feed many hungry people on my behalf and I have no guilt about declining the street people.
