How do you get rid of all the resistance and change beliefs that don't serve you (or that go against your desires)?

I'm trying to figure this out too. I've read the Secret over and over and listened to the CD's and still not getting results. I get into the right frame of mind then I can't stay in it. I seem to have a lot of trouble with people who give me a lot of critisim which really bothers me. I'm not sure why I attract these type people over and over. I'm very positive and I try to give the impression that I am very secure I don't cut myself down in front of others. But I always seem to meet people who like to ridicule me. I would love to get beyond the resistance and start benefiting from the Secret!!

there is a guy on the master program that listened to all Abe all the time for about three years. nothing changed. then all of a sudden. he asked abe why on one of the latest tapes....Abe said it just took that long for his beliefs and patterns of thought to change. Some go easily....some it takes awhile. But if you aren't loving the study of the law then it may not be for you anyway...if you are just trying to get your stuff....well....what about feeling better. if you can get to the point where you are at peace with all your baggage, even if nothing changes out side of you...but you are just wanting to feel as good as you can because that is the kingdom within...then all the stuff comes anyway. but the kingdom is what you are wanting. who wants to be wealthy and sick and miserable? that's not the goal...is is wealth, health and most importantly....happiness. and happiness brings you all the rest.

not that i'm an expert....that is just how far i have gotten with the materials. could be completely wrong.

I am definitely not where I want to be. However, I do know that we get entirely what we focus on. Focus on what we want and then TAKE ACTION to set in motion the desires of our focus. Nothing will happen as if by magic or feel good vibrations, but our intended actions will bring about great change. We bring about what we think about! If a negative thought enters my mind, I let it go and redirect my energies to a creative way of taking action and solving the problem.

Also, when there is a vaccuum, it must be filled. Don't fill it with things you don't want or things that our not in line with your goals. Fill it with good things and concentrate your actions on the intended results.

After you have done all you can toward a given project each day, pray to God (or whomever you pray to) that He will bless your actions and bring your desire. I talk with Him many times a day and read His love letters to me. He is in my heart and provides the magnetic energy I need to focus.

It is very OK to let go of the negatives.

Just tell yourself to do it. Our brains operate on literal instructions. It is either 'stop' or 'go'. There is no in between like an "it's intermission" instruction. So tell yourself to be happy and,hey presto, you will be.

Here's an exercise - fake a smile and hold that smile for 60 seconds. And I can bet that you will feel better afterwards. Why?

In simple terms, your brain realises you are telling it to 'smile' so it reacts appropriately and takes action to release chemicals into the various regions of your brain to make you happy.

You can do it. Just tell your brain to make it happen!

This is wonderful. When I smile I get really happy - almost giddy. I imagine it's a great way to request what I wish the universe to manifest in my life.

I can testify to the truth of what iScatterling said. Sometimes when I get stressed or annoyed I just force a grin and a chuckle, and within seconds true mirth bubbles up and I'm laughing about nothing in particular. Then my focus shifts to things that amuse me, or make me happy.

Trust me -- IT WORKS!

I simply say the words "I Love You" over and over again within myself. This helps you clear and clean everything that is not loving within yourself. When all you know and think about is love, you attract more things worth loving.

Hi Alejandra,
I'm new to this as well, and it was difficult at first, but it does get easier. I find that the most important thing is to "go with the flow" and not allow myself to think "well, this isn't happening, and that isn't happening and why isn't it working with this particular thing I want to attract?". When you don't dwell on it, but simply ask for what you want, feel that you already have it, and put it out there...then it comes to you. And it comes to you in the most unexpected ways.

For example: Last week I consciously asked for a plant to be manifested into my life and it didn't happen until yesterday. I had almost forgotten about my request to the Universe, and there I was, at a meeting with a floral decorator, and as I was walking out of their workshop, the lady I had the meeting with picks up a potted rose (beautiful!!), brings it over to me and asks me if I'd like to have it. Imagine my surprise when, a few minutes later, I remembered that I had asked for a plant to be manifested in my life!!!

As you can see, I'm starting off with little things but as I get better at this I know that I'll be able to manifest anything I want, big or small!!! So hang in there because it definitely works!

Alejandra- this is something that I have trouble with a lot too.. I tend to have obsessive thoughts that really affect my going with the flow. I think that what affects us more sometimes are not just the negative thoughts, but that we are not accepting the negative thoughts. This creates more disharmony in our body rather than if we would just let the thought flow by...

When i get in a rut.. there are two things I do:.

1. Watch this video by Abraham on "the stream" it is AMAZING.. the metaphors make so much sense and you will feel relief instantly. If you are feeling resistance, it is because you are way too attached to your outcome - you think that the only way you can get it is if you are feeling a certain way, so you obsess with only feeling a certain way, which is definately not going with the flow. this video will show you to "stop paddling, and let the stream turn you":

2. Another great technique for me is EFT through tapping. I know, it looks weird, its strange, but it really works. This method allows you to stop for a moment and say, Michael, I accept that you are thinking these negative thoughts, merely for the fact that you just are existing. Inevitably the negative feelings stop. But remember, what resists persists - so just let the energy of life take you to the next step:

Hello Alejandra,

Yes, our beliefs are created and implanted into our subconsciousmind through our habits. You should not try hard to change it. Just focus on the new mindset that you want to have. Do visualization and affirmation in your meditation imagining that you have had the new mindsets! Enjoy and be happy! Do it at least twice a day, in the morning and night! Good luck! You will change your life!
