Powerful Intentions: Law of Attraction Community


I just saw The Secret a ew days ago and am currently reading the book. My question is about my requests from the Universe. I requested a couple of small things to happen that didn't come about. I requested in a state of happiness and gratitude. My question is there is something else I've requested that I'm actually counting on. I'm expecting it to take place. If it weren't to take place, it could have negative effects on me. I requested this also in a state of happiness and gratitude. I firmly believe that it will happen. However, I also firmly believed that the other couple of things would happen and, yet, they didn't. Am I doing something wrong? Should I not expect this other request to take place?

You have to be patient, and already enjoy in what u requested. U already have that.

You're not doing anything wrong.

In fact, the best way to know you're doing it right.....is just to know you're doing it right. :)

Remember that the Universe is always responding to who you're Being right NOW...and right now....and right now....and right now. So, if you put your request out with a positive expectation, you can feel confident that things are lining up to bring it to you.

BUT......also remember that the Universe is checking right NOW and right now and right now..... So, if you start wondering "why is this not working"....or "what am I doing wrong".....or write a message on the board or have a conversation with a friend that suggests that you're not getting what you're wanting....

....well, the Universe interprets those thoughts as requests, too.

The nice thing, though, is that you don't need to spend all your time analyzing every single thought you have. Wow, wouldn't that be a hard job! LOL

No, the only thing we have to focus on is just feeling good and walking through doors when they open.

Bottom line: when you order a pizza, it shows up.....it might show up sooner or later than you thought...but it shows up. Your only job is to be in "receiving mode"....not to worry about it not showing up. Because that would be like calling the pizza place and telling them you've changed your mind.

Hi DJ. Your comments offer a fairly clear picture of why your requests can't manifest. Neediness, which is a feeling rooted in the concept of lack, seems to have a dominant presence. Neediness will always frustrate one's ability to manifest a desired oucome, that is, until you become more focussed on what you want, than you are on the fear you might not get what you want.

You've already received some wonderful answers. I have a comment, and then a question. :)

My comment is this. It is my truth we are here to experience...There's being (which we already are) and knowing (we've experienced who we already are) and then there's the journey in between (the experience of who we are). We are ALL emotions, like white is ALL colors. In order to know happiness and gratitude, we will experience the opposite from time to time. You cannot know light without knowing dark. That experience gives us the knowing.

With that being said, when have you experienced happiness and gratitude? The reason I ask is this gives you that vision point. It also gives you a vibrational focus.

Next, start keeping track of things you ARE grateful for. Remember the fellow who keeps the Gratitude Rock in his pocket? It supports him to stop for a moment and think of what he's grateful for. We usually plod along in our day, tally what went wrong at the end of the day, and wake up going through the same tally, and then wonder why we aren't feeling good.

I would invite you to start a gratitude journal. Write 5 things you are grateful for in it each day. Mine always has my son in it, as well as my heath. As you take the time to look for things you already are grateful for, more things move into your life to support that experience.

Thank you, Velma. I do keep a Gratitude Journal. I don't just write 5 things per day, but whatever I happen to think of that night. There are always quite a few, including the people that I'm grateful for and the qualities in those people that I'm grateful for.

There isn't much to add, but I also felt just like this when I started. I also have fallen off at times being grateful saying the words or thinking the thoughts, and my life is harder then. What I came to decide was whether or not everything came your way exactly like you asked for it the point is to be happy. I am happier knowing that I am thinking right and doing the right things. I find when I forget about what I ask for, there it is. Ask for it leave it, then be pleasantly reminded that it worked at some point later. Sometimes it is way later than I think I need. I am not a big worrier, but now I am conscience when I am worrying and I stop. When I truly relax and stop worrying and just concentrate on what I want, then it comes. Lot of times I have forgotten that I asked for it. I also know that deep down sometimes I do not really believe this or that will happen for me. My mind goes "no no your not going to get that" if I even hear that I am not where I should be. BUT beating up on myself, disapointed in myself, any of those thoughts are also just unhelpful. It does get easier. It takes 30 days to form a new habit. Also, do you visualize? I have trouble with this, being a bit ADD I don't like to sit without reading watching tv, talking on the phone. Sitting and thinking seems like I am not doing anything. Thanks to you because I just realized as I was typing this that it is accomplishing something when I meditate and visualize; I tried to type it wasn't accomplishing anything and couldn't. I knew it wasn't true. Take care Becky

Have faith! Just because things don't happen right away doesn't mean it didn't work. We never know when or how our requests will manifest, just that they will...
