Digging a Little Deeper into the LOA and The Secret.
As I sit here reading posts and absorbing what I am reading, I began to think about the concept that nothing stays the same. Our feelings and our emotional attachment to things change constantly. For instance, we are all here learning and absorbing the various concepts that we are learning about. Most of us, if not almost all, were awakened by the appearance of the book 'The Secret'. When it appeared and when the movie appeared, the teachings were an astonishing eye-opener for seekers worldwide. Change was in the wind. It is one of the most amazing 'happenings' on the planet. People everywhere were, and still are, inspired and motivated and enthused with joy and excitement and from that vibrational state they attracted everything from checks-in-the-mail to jobs to business success, you name it. We all, in one way or another, rode the wave of 'The Secret'.
But the joyful high many experienced, suddenly, seemed to diminish and many were confused and worried and wondering what happened to the Law of Attraction and why was it no longer working. It had worked, we had the checks to prove it, the jobs manifested, our desires began to flow; but then everything started 'returning to normal' and everything was as it had been and many were left discouraged and at a loss as to why it didn't last.
Rather than sit in disappointment and confusion, many of us began to take the teachings one step further and used the Secret as the stepping stone or window of opportunity that it is. We took the teachings and began to dig a little deeper and research the roots of the concept of The Secret and discovered even more wisdom that enlightened us further. The Secret was the tip of the iceberg.
Wallace Wattles book, "The Science of Getting Rich" which was available as a free gift on The Secret website, was actually the first book I read that dealt with the LOA. At the time I could not afford either The Secret book or the DVD. So I searched out Rhonda Byrne on the web and discovered the free ebook by Mr. Wattles. That was my first introduction to the LOA. It was an amazing revelation to me. I believe it was to my benefit to read this book before reading The Secret. It paved the way. I read it again and again. When I purchased The Secret and DVD, I was amazed and watched and read daily. Then I began to read it less and watch it less and less and felt that there was something else I needed to know.
For many years prior to The Secret, about twenty years, I had 'bumped' into the books and teachings of Abraham and the names Esther and Jerry Hicks, everywhere I went. In libraries and bookstores I literally bumped into the books sticking out of the shelf and on two separate occasions I had an Abraham book fall from a shelf. One hit me on the shoulder, and one landed flat on the bare floor and scared the daylights out of me. I even stumbled over one on the floor of a second hand bookstore. I ignored them. I didn't think Abraham's teachings were my cup of tea. All the time, I was seeking and asking to be shown the path for me. I was being shown the path, but I was too set in my ways to see. Finally, after the Secret, I gave in and searched out the Abraham-Hicks website. The Teachings of Abraham are answering all my questions and filling in all the gaps that I felt that The Secret and other similar books left open.

The Secret didn't let you down, it didn't stop working, the LOA is true, it exists, and it works for everybody, all the time. None of these teachings have let you down. The fact of the matter is that though the concept behind the Secret is simple, there is much more to learn and The Secret opened our eyes and awakened us to that and made us aware of the fact that we are not powerless and that we are creators with the powerful energy to create.
Abraham teaches us that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. Who better to help us remember what we already know as spiritual beings, than a group of spiritual beings called Abraham.
Abraham tells us that we are here to experience joy and to joyfully create. Think about it...when you first read or watched The Secret, what did you feel? How did you feel? Didn't you feel exhilirated and excited and feel an overpowering sense of joy? You did, didn't you! And it was from that state of joyful vibration that you stated your first intention and it manifested! I know, because I was so excited and so happy and I said "I want a check in the mail!" And it happened, I got it. Stay in a state of joy, always, and create outrageous abundance, wealth, radiant good health, peace, happiness, success, and make all your intentions manifest. How? I suggest you read Abraham's Teachings, and read Mr. Wattles book and pay attention to his references to accessing the 'creative mind'.
From our physical point of view, things do not always seem just or right, but when we learn to view things as spiritual beings having a physical experience, we will begin to understand that all flows with well-being.
My one wish for everyone who seeks is that you not stop seeking. Though you may have found the concept or the teachings that speak most to your heart, keep learning and wondering and listening. We are all One, we are not alone. There is so much more ahead!

Hi Teri,
This is just what I needed to hear. Everything was turning back to 'normal' for me. I know that the LoA and The Secret works, but I was getting 'tired' of every day putting much energy into it, and keeping positive all the time, allthough some things took a lot of time. And things didn't manifest anymore. Now I now that I have many things to discover. Do you know if the books from Abraham and Mr. Wattles are translated into Dutch? I will try to find out and thank you very much for giving me a great help I needed just now! Thank you!

Wow, thanks Teri - I can totally relate to all you have said. I have a 'Abraham related' book to read when I finish my current book (I buy them 2 or 3 at a time!), and this will be the first one I have read.
Like you, I kept coming across this 'Abraham', and in light of The Secret and The Science of Getting Rich, have been learning to really trust my instincts lately, and to turn up the volume of the 'still small voice'.
At the risk of 'dropping an ad in' (not my intention here) I can also throughly recommend The Science of Getting Rich CLUB. The original book you refer to can be a tough read if you are not familiar with the language and grammer used 100 years ago - but I found (and continue to find) the help of The Secret teachers like Bob Proctor, very useful indeed, in expanding on Wallace Wattles teachings.
You don't HAVE TO join the club (it's expensive) but instead, can sign a few wealthier friends up (4 needed) :-) and join for FREE that way. It's worth checking out (see below).
Can I just close by letting everyone know how exciting I am finding the journey that I am now on - since reading The Secret and The Science of Getting Rich. I can see everything around me changing so quickly, not only material aspects but the people I now mix with, and best of all I feel better, both physically (having lost 21 pounds recently) and spiritually (where I now wake up much earlier, mediate, and study, before anyone else gets out of bed!).

Yes, Mr. Collier is another of the many 'New Thought' teachers. And there are many, as you probably already know. You might want to check out the 'Internet Sacred Text Archive' for more 'New Thought' authors. It is a wealth of free reads on the internet.

Your enthusiasim is exactly what I needed. I am sending you a warm hug right now. I love the electricity of all of this, I feel more alive than I have ever felt since I began reading everything I could beyond The Secret. Abraham and Jerry and Ester is the best treasure to discover! I love them so!
Your story of their books practically assaulting you! So clever they are! And yet you did discover/ let them in, because originally they were the massive Force behind The Secret!
The other day I found myself contemplating the initials W.W. and just moments ago I wished that the next book that I need to read in my journey would show itself to me. Then II felt compelled to open your discussion. It said nothing in the beginning about you touting a book.....But there was Wallace Wattles! Heavy huh? Thank you.

and Abraham teaches us that if we are not having fun we are missing that point...
and what's the hurry...you never get it done..you will always want more no matter how much you have...so what's the hurry...it is all for joy...
and when you have joy all else comes to you easily....
and most importantly...Abraham teaches us the emotional process of getting to joy from powerlessness, unknowing, sadness and fear....so that all else can come to us easily....
Abraham teaches us POWER.

Hi Teri, I really enjoyed your post.
After the euphoria, things do go back to normal, but I believe if one were able to measure it, the everyday base vibration level is a notch or two higher.
I have the Wattles book, it's been a number of years since I've read it, I think I'm going to dust it off and read it again. I didn't make the transition to Abraham through The Secret, but rather through the Seth teachings, which as far as transitions go, is a very natural one. However, I cannot overstate how powerful the Abe brand of LoA has been on my life.
