I love reading the secret when i read the book i feel inspired and positive but few hours after i read it i go back to the negative thoughts what do u think i should do?

Yeah ive had too many negative thinkers and still have.i have things in my everyday life that effect but i'll try that! thank u!

Hi there, i had the same problem... I found that repition helps alot, read, reread and read again... Try and read a chapter everyday, there are also some other good books out there, one that really helped me along was the 7 spiritual laws by deepak chopra..

You could also try making an affirmation first thing in the morning: "I am so happy and Gratefull for my positive thoughts."

Get the movie too, lol. I watched it 20 times maybe. Repetition, repetition, repetition. Seriously, I used to watch it 3 times a week. I probably should start doing that again.

Also, next time you slip back into old habits, be really aware of your thoughts and internal dialog. What is causing this? Is there a trigger?

apart from that, yes, develop. you like the book and rereading it helps you. try watching the movie. then look into other things that you might enjoy, such as meditation, workshops, other books, other teachers. then try other tricks, like whenever a negative thought gets you and you feel you can't get it out of your head, stand up, jump on the spot, google a jokes website, put in a funny movie, pick a difference thought and concentrate on that, let go of the other thought.

also find out what you feel positive about. it could be that, whoa, you're beautiful lol ;), you might have a special talent, you might be good at drawing, you might have a bunch of amazing friends, whatever it is that's right for you. get those things active in your mind. after a while you'll be able to respond to negative thoughts with positive ones.

also a change in language works wonders!!! start using positive words. when someone asks how you are, instead of "not bad" use the positive of that, which is "good". lol. it's really simple, yet so effective!

did you have a good weekend? it was fabulous!! if you feel it wasn't really, then think about it for a while. did you fall over and break your leg? nope. did your dog die? nope. did you get caught out in the rain and have a bird poo on you? nope. ergo, fabulous! lol. ; ) it's better to think about things that actually happened and that you enjoyed.

anyhow, keep smiling, keep laughing, keep enjoying.

Hi Nat,
what has made the difference in my thinking pattern have been some cds I purchased three weeks ago from an online store - Positive Thinking, the Secret Universal Mind, Desire and Winning. I was desperate to find something that would counter my negative thoughts. Now, I go to sleep listening to The Secret Universal Mind it has made a tremendous difference in how I feel and think, during the day I listen to positive thinking, desire and winning. I can honestly say that my thought pattern is positive for the first time in years.

Nat,
There is no way around it, thought management is a skill. I will tell you that right now. It is a skill, just because we read a very inspirational book like the secret or watch the upbeat DVD, that does not just RECONDITION our thinking habits. What we all need to do is maintain spiritual PRACTICE and one of the core things is thought management. Some suggestions are:
-Remain very aware of your feelings, anytime you feel negative, bring immediate awareness to the SPECIFIC thoughts that are causing them and GENTLY keep turning them around. This takes practice and doesn't always bring instant results, but there is no way around this Nat. This is the core of mastering the Law Of Attraction---"you become what you think about all day long, when you really realize that, you become very careful about what you are thinking" as Wayne Dyer says.
-Get in the habit of actually writing out your negative thoughts and keep practicing turning them around on paper.
If you become VIGILANT about your thought process and keep learning to actually manage your thoughts IMMEDIATELY when they get "out of whack", you'll gradually get better and better at it. I promise. but, it takes practice.
You may want to look at the Abraham--Hicks books, they spend a lot of time hammering this point.

Yes, honestly, watching The Secret was just a tiny part of my spiritual growth over the last 5 years. I participated in a series of self-help seminars back then and that was my start. I've read numerous books, had 100s of talks about my life and spirituality. But that movie can be the start of a new direction for you. Spiritual growth is a very tough, but rewarding choice. And everything I learned, brought up new questions.
