Tell Me the Best Advice You've Ever Gotten

Tell me the best piece (or pieces) of advice you've ever gotten. I've been given lots of good advice. My three favorite:
1) Aim your life carefully;
2) Keep your eye on the ball;
3) When you're angry, never do anything that feels good. (I know we should always do things that make us feel good, but the point here is that when you're angry, really angry, the things that feel good—yelling, punching walls, seeking revenge, launching missles—are probably a bad idea.)
I first heard the first two when I was a teenager, and I always liked them. Now that I'm practicing the Secret/LOA, they really seem to make sense.
Especially "aim your life carefully." We choose the direction in which we live our lives. We select the target. We are in control. So, make sure you aim your life carefully.

Slightly different tack - one of the best pieces of advice I was given was to watch the Secret.

When I was complaining about how ugly Wyoming was (along the interstate north west to Casper) complared to other places we had lived my father said............ sometimes you just have to look deeper for the beauty.
That has served me well all the years since. And certainly helps me when I'm looking for something to feel good about.
