Powerful Intentions: Law of Attraction Community

Hello,
I have a question....I am completely new to LOA...I posted this in one of the groups, but I think more people might see it here.

I understand that we bring to us what we believe. But what about certain circumstances.
For instance, I will give a personal example.

I took a medial test earlier this year, completely convinced that the results were going to be very bad. They turned out completely normal. Now, how could this happen if I was worrying so much and was convinced of a bad result? Shouldn't the result have been bad, if that was what I really believed?

How does LOA reconcile with events like this, because this happens all the time in life, and I don't understand the conflict. People are convinced of bad outcomes, and it doesn't always happen....you know, the "95% of what we worry about never comes true" saying...?

Thank you.
Blessings, Val

It is difficult for me to control worry also. My brother is always saying that to me. Don't worry. In one way it seems impossible when things look dire, but then another way I can see how unproductive worrying is. I have to distract myself by doing something productive and it will go away for awhile. If I continue to do this; I intend to be successful.

One way to overcome worry is, to put aside a certain time of day as your "worry" hour, preferably at night. Then, anytime a worry comes up during the day, you stop yourself and say, " I can't think about this now but I will at 10:00 tonight (or whatever time you have chosen) Then, at 10:00 sit down with a pen and paper and try to find solutions or just worry a little, etc.

Do this every day. After awhile, you will use that hour less and less, until you stop it all together, but in the mean while you will be free from worry all day, because you stop yourself imediately and forbid yourself to think on those topics outside of the designated hour.

Noelle, thank you. I have heard of this before, but never thought myself capable......I will try it now. I see the wisdom in it, and I am working hard at making changes, so I do thank you for your advice.

why is it so important for you to worry or want to be sick in the first place???? Wouldn't you enjoy life more if you focus on the good and positive that you bring to this world and the goodness you give to yourself.????
You have to be open to all the good, even through your worry. Like Louise Hays to say and it might help you :>) She always says:
"All is well in my world. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this situation only good will come. I am safe and so it is."
I hope this helps you get into the positive :>)

Melody, of course I don't want to worry or be sick. That is why I am here, to ask and learn. I only meant after a lifetime of worry, as most people do, it takes time to change.
Yes, I know that mantra from Louise Hay.
Thanks!

Val, what really helped me this year with regard to fear and worry is "A New Earth" the Eckhart Tolle book. I think the stored web classes are still on Oprah's website if you'd like to hear he and Oprah teach about it but the book cleared up a lot about ear and worry for me. I still "go there" but much much less frequently which is a miracle in and of itself. The other thing that's true - someone else mentioned it in the thread somewhere - I have been very lucky with health. It's never been on my radar? I'm now dealing with some chronic neck pain but that is rooted in how I think about other things, not health! Violence and crime, is another thing that's not on my radar and in this day and age I've been almost virtually unscathed by it. That's what makes me understand that it really is WHERE we put our attention. Here's an example of something recent: My daughter has had an HPV scare previously and my mother had (and survived!) ovarian cancer. A friend of mine who became a healer did a healing on my daughter for something else and then confidentially came to me to tell me that there was "something going on in her reproductive area that felt like cancer." You can imagine the feeling of those words to a mother. Now, my daughter was awaiting test results re the HPV (she goes quarterly for paps) and I never said anything to her about what the healer had said. And I pictured her just being healthy and well and let it go. The test results came back early (!) and completely clear. No HPV, no nothing.

Stay in the NOW and don't focus on what you don't want. Those two things have helped me. And constant refreshment in the practice and new knowledge. It's a lot of work but even just for the changes I've experienced in myself it's been worth it so far.

Thanks Marion,
Yes, my husband has Tolle's book.
I am glad your daughter and mom are okay!
I am practicing staying in the NOW...it is hard, but I am trying lots of things.
I hope you can resolve your neck pain......thanks so much for your advice!!

Hi Val - this week my neck is feeling pretty good. thank you. It's when I started focusing on the NOW that I realized how much time I spent thinking about the past and the future. We , or at least I was spending all of my time in the NOW not really focusing on it. It's helped me so much in stopping loops of worry.

Hi, Val,Cupcake, and Noelle, I liked this topic that you-all were writing, so I thought I'd add my two cents worth as we are setting at the round table, lol,,,( if u want to know about me you can go to my Page (Nancy Anderson ) and there I am..

Now, In my working with people, I have become a good listener, so I notice their words, don't I and when they repeat a word over and over that describes their discontent in self I mention to them, Let's change that word, In this topic of yours Val, the word is worry so I hear that you are worrying, Let's change it to a lighter version and start to use the word "wondering"....I wonder if I'm sick, I wonder if the check is in the mail, I wonder about the weather report..
This does work and lightens your load another thing working with something like this you will be able to find out if you are obsessing over certain subjects that you think about.

Your one liner is so true. I just add to it, "That half the things we Worry about, that we Obsess, that we fear, that we know is just going to happen, NEVER Does.

In our life times, Karma, plays out for "Good" as well as "Bad," most of us do not realize that we do have the, " Good as well as the bad and ugly."

Thank you Nancy, I like that suggestion of replacing worry with wonder.
LOL< now I have a new question, how does Karma play into LOA? Oh my.......this is getting complex!! LOL

Thanks so much!

I personally am not sure about the concept of karma. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying that I struggle with it. I feel like I come into this world anew and afresh, to experience what I experience in this life. Gee whiz! I am sort of amazed at myself because there was a time in my life when I didn't believe in past lives, etc. I know there are all sorts of possibilities...and for some, knowing about past experiences in order to explain the present really helps. I had someone do a Tarot reading and said I might need to do a healing of a past life...I guess I just don't know if that's necessary. And if it is, how do I do that? I guess it just didn't feel good for me to believe it, so I'm not going to, unless there comes a time when I actually feel OK about believing it and have an opportunity to do something about it.

Meanwhile, life is getting better for me anyway.

So the sky's the limit on what you can enjoy in your beliefs. The best ones are beliefs that feel GOOD to you! And that can change, which is also a wonderful thing.

I may have said this here or another forum: The only limitation we have is the belief in limitation."

So even the limits of the sky are not limits at all, of course!

HI Mary Jo,

I do believe in Past Lives, and they fascinate me, and I feel it in my gut that I have many. I really believe that I am carrying over some issues, but don't know how to get in touch with them either. I have heard people do this, and are able to move on from their issues once they understand where they came from.

But, lacking a way to do it, I soldier on, and work on myself.

I am glad that you have also, and that you are improving your life and I thank you for your response!!

Blessings, Val
