Yes, I know it's best to be independent of the need for recognition and/or approval of others. And I am - independent of the
need for it.
But it sure does feel good when people you admire recognize you for something positive.
My videos - The Subway Series - won a contest on
Jason's Network. World's most beautiful videos. There were four $100.00 winners, and I was one of them.
The funny thing - I didn't enter any contest. Jason uses the tagline "The World's Most Beautiful People" for his social networking site. I got involved basically because he wouldn't leave me alone until I checked it out. It looked like fun and not very time consuming, plus others I respect were already there, so I opened an account and put some of my materials there.
Good marketer that he is, Jason decided to launch contests for photos and videos. Apparently The Subway Series struck a chord. (You can see them on my videos page here at P.I..) The only way I found out is he kept badgering me to listen to his audio blog from last Saturday. I discovered my good fortune when I heard my name announced as one of the winners.
So a public appreciation to Jason, and to my partner in video creation, Linda Maley. I'll be taking her out to her favorite restaurant in Manhattan with the loot.
You never know where your creativity and good energy will take you. You never know who's watching.
Anyone else have good news or tales of unexpected glory they'd like to share?
