Dear Friends

Many times in the past I've heard from scientists that the human body replaces itself. I heard that every atom in our entire body is replaced in about 7 years.

Today I told this to my friend and he blatantly said that my view is a MYTH and that this is not true.

Can anyone, who has knowledge about this subject, please tell me what the truth is.

This was also mentioned on 'the secret' by quantum physicists. Dr. Deepak Chopra also says this. Is this only a theory or is there actual proof?

Taking into account the "Hayflick limit" and apoptosis factor- some
calculatiosn were aproximated and claims were made that every year
about 98% of the atoms in your body are replaced. Maybe this
assumption was based upon the fact that oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen
gases and carbon make up 96% of the total weight of the human body.

Chiropractor Dr. Stew Bittman also claims that "The human body is
unfathomably intelligent. It builds itself from 1 cell into 100
trillion cells in 9 months. It rebuilds 98% of itself in 3 months!
That's right- 98% of the atoms that comprise your body right now will
not be in your body 3 - 6 months from now. They will have been
replaced by atoms that you accumulate from your environment, mostly in
the form of food."

Really interesting!

So if 98% of the atoms in our body is replaced within 3 months, why do we age? Our body consists of about 75% of water and we actually replace that water within weeks...

Here is an interesting comment on aging by Dr. Deepak Chopra :

Veronica: By changing one's perception of aging, we can change our age. How?

Dr. Chopra: Well, most people think that aging is fatal and scientific data shows that that's not true. People don't die of old age, they die of diseases that accompany old age, and they are preventable.

Most people think that aging is irreversible and we know that there are mechanisms even in the human machinery that allow for the reversal of aging, through correction of diet, through anti-oxidants, through removal of toxins from the body, through exercise, through yoga and breathing techniques, and through meditation. Most people believe that aging is normal but nobody defines what normal aging is. What we call normal may be the psychopathology of the average. Most people think that aging is genetic and yet if your parents lived to age 80+ that will add three years to your life.

The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years. Most people believe that aging is universal but there are biological organisms that never age. Most people believe that aging is painful and we know that pain is from diseases that are preventable, not from aging.

People have to change their concepts of aging and I am not asking them to do so based on some fanciful notion, but on scientific fact. When they change that, then their perception of aging will change and it will become clear to them to grow old and to become wiser, to become more creative, to become the springboard for creativity and affluence. Once your perception of the whole phenomenom changes, your reality will change, because reality is nothing other than your perception of it.

And now I read that there are many theories on aging, but scientist don't really understand them that well :

Veronica: The new paradigm tells us that we are constantly making and unmaking our bodies at the quantum level which means that we are constantly unfolding hidden potential. Can you talk about this quantum level?

Dr. Chopra: If you look at anything physical, you find out that at the quantum level, it is non-physical. The body is made up of atoms and subatomic particles that are moving at lightning speed around huge empty spaces and the body gives off fluctuations of energy and information in a huge void, so essentially your body is proportionately as void as intergalactic space, made out of nothing, but the nothing is actually the source of information and energy. If you'd approach that level, then you would realize that the body is a print out and by changing the software, by influencing the programming, and by getting in touch with the program, you can create a new body anytime you want.

Bernard.

I am literally younger than I used to be. I know of others who are more mobile, more flexible, more ALIVE than they were five or ten years ago. The difference is in their belief systems.

The human patterns of aging are based on the patterns of belief that we have about ourselves. If we believe that we are consigned to being less mobile, less intelligent, less flexible...then that creates the manifestation of exactly that experience.

My experience is that, once upon a time, I was married to a woman who was very Old Testament, wrath-of-God, unhappy and controlling (Yes, I ATTRACTED her, but we won't go into that. LOL!) Needless to say that, once our kids were teenagers and we saw that we had "fulfilled our divine function" as parents, the aging really began to affect our lives. Our bodies began to respond to this as well.

But I wanted to LIVE! I wanted more from life. We divorced. It took some time to reverse my beliefs, but over time, not only did I change my thought patterns, my body started to change, too. Although I no longer pass for 40, I am counted as physically 10-15 years younger than my driver's license says I am.

This consciousness is a constant vigil because the media and society wants to keep telling us that aging is gonna happen, that there's no control for it. But I do believe that we CAN change our physical age, simply by believing we can, and putting that belief into practice, by DOING the things that we want to do.

Peace

EXACTLY!!!! It is all in our beliefs... We are narrow minded and only believe what we can perceive with our senses.

Just think of all the possibilities...

I know I learned in school cells were constantly regenerating!

Well done Bernard,

you manifested the information (through Seamus ...thanks Seamus) ... now get that friend of yours on the phone and give him an ear full ...with love and compassion of course !!

On the ageing thing, I guess it may be the telomeres that shorten the life of the cells and perhaps lead to the eventual death of the body. But we are designed to live till we are 120. And I still like Deepak Chopras version of aging ...He says we dont "age" we "change" each day in line with the experiences we have. So I guess I will see the results of sitting im my kitchen all day today, eating chocolate biscuits, no exrercise and no sunlight on my skin, and lots of staring at the computer screen !!!

I imagine the secret to living to 120 is to act like a kid all day long, playing in the sun, jumping over rivers, eating the berries and apples that grow in the sunlight and drinking the water from the stream and laughing and having fun all day, being with friends and sleeping like a log at night ! ....Do they live to 120 in Maui ...??

This is actually something that astounds me. I have read about a number of people growing older than 100. What I found is that they all lived fairly average lives. Some people even said that they had really hard and depressing lives full of pain etc. The oldest person ever, Jeanne Calment - a French woman, actually smoked until she was 117 years old, in fact almost all of the worlds oldest people smoked.

They all have some secret to long life like olive oil, the Buddha, seaweed, red wine etc. but not one of these people really tried to live a long life. These things make me wonder...

Interesting thing, Bernard, a long time ago I heard about this japanese man living up to 120 years old i think, and it said there that he smoked, but then he quitted. That definitely puzzled me, thinking wouldn't that have shortened his life? I guess it's all up to our minds..

Dear Fiona

That is the same thing I wondered about. Doctors etc. say that it definitely shortens your life considerably! It makes me wonder if the French woman who quit smoking at the age of 117 would actually have lived longer... I think it is all in the mind.
