If you DON'T want them back you can call them your ex but if you DO....I have a guy friend who is a member here & he said something like: "No WONDER some of these people can't get their exes back, they keep referring to them as their EX."

So STOP it!!

I think of mine and refer to him - USUALLY - by his initial or as "my guy" or even my crush or the guy i like.  I use the e word rarely & I encourage you to do likewise!
